Drinking Water
In the Pefkos heat it's essential to drink enough water during the day.
Whilst the tap water on Rhodes is said to be safe to drink, the mineral content is very different to the UK. It's usually recommended to buy bottled water for drinking, although tap water certainly shouldn't cause any harm (although it may taste different and may not agree with you).
Chemist
In Pefkos the pharmacy is on the main road near opposite Rock Garden.
Working hours are:
Mon-Sat. 09:00 – 13:00 and 16:30 – 21:00
Sunday: 10:30 – 13:00 and 17:00 – 21:00
The pharmacist in friendly, knowledgable, and speaks excellent English.
Doctor
The doctor in Pefkos is based above Pallas Supermarket.
Greek Language
The Greek people in Pefkos are amongst the friendliest in the world, and always appreciate it if you greet them in Greek.
Here's some basics (spelt phonetically, not correctly !) :-
Kali mera - good day [to strangers and aquaintances]
Kali spera - good evening
yasus / yasoo - both hallo and good buy to frinds/family
kali nita - good night
Yammas - Cheers
